Monday Manscaper: YON-KA for Men Bronzer Moist

5 04 2010

No man should be without a quality face lotion; it’s the cornerstone to any skincare routine.  But before you head out to buy one think about your skin’s needs.  If you have acne you should look for one with an oil-free formula.  If you spend most of your day outdoors, go for a moisturizer with an SPF?  When it comes to my skin, though, I like a moisturizer that goes on smoothly and adds a hint of color to my otherwise pasty-white skin.

If you’re like me, YON-KA for Men Bronzer Moist is a perfect choice.  The anti-aging moisturizer goes above and beyond, providing a gradual tan for a more vibrant skin tone.

A combination of all-natural botanical ingredients including green olive, sandalwood and other essential oils provide anti-aging benefits as this creamy lotion tones, soothes and keeps skin supple for all-day moisture.  At $53 for 1.4 ounces, it is definitely an investment, but one that will impart your skin with a healthy glow.

Friday Fashions: New Designs from Tank Theory

2 04 2010

For as long as I can remember I’ve always had an obsession with graphic tees. I have a huge collection, but my favorites include a powder blue shirt featuring a shot of Jesus with the tag, “Jesus Surfs Without A Board,” and my worn-in American Apparel shirt featuring a cartoon horse with the phrase, “Let’s Horse Around.”

Tees are not only comfortable, but they are a great ice breaker. After all, who’d you rather talk to at a party, the guy in the boring polo or the one boldly advertising for you to come over and “Horse Around?” Personally, I’d rather play cowboy!

To feed my obsession I’m always on the lookout for new brands and designers, and I just came across Tank Theory, one of the coolest brands I’ve seen in awhile.

Tank Theory has partnered explicitly with a multitude of independent artists to generate their designs for the Tank Theory Artist Series. The result is raw, eye catching and empowering!  There are dozens upon dozens of styles to choose from and the company even has a T-Shirt of the Month program.

Each month Tank Theory produces one new t-shirt design and prints it in limited quantities, making each new shirt a must-have for the serious graphic tee collector. Below are some of my favorite styles, along with two of the company’s new jackets, perfect for a chilly, spring night.

Are you a fan of graphic tees? What brands do you love?

Product Review: EQUMEN “Power” Underwear for Men

22 12 2009

As long as I can remember, my guy friends and I have debated over whether to wear boxers or briefs, strange when you consider that many of my guy friends are straight (though I am not) and this just doesn’t sound like something that is typically discussed over beer.  As I got into writing and covering editorial fashion, I’ve noticed that the debate keeps coming up, and I’ve finally figured out why – it’s all about the package.

When it comes to underwear, I think most guys make their decision based on four factors – 1)Fit, 2)Comfort, 3) Style and 4)How big the pouch is going to make their package look. Now EQUMEN, the Australian-based company that brought us the Core Precision Undershirt earlier this year, has launched their collection of Precision Underwear, which take all four factors into account.  In fact, the cutting edge underwear are designed to “incorporate the brand’s unique athletic-inspired engineering and physiotherapist insights to deliver comfort, support and body-optimizing benefits ‘down under.'”  I bet you’re wondering how they work, though, right?

Helix-Mapping™ Body Response Technology

The Precision Underwear – available in briefs, trunks and long turnks – use EQUMEN’s Helix-Mapping compression technology – the same used in their shirts – to place pressure on the gluteal fold, providing lightweight posture and gait support.  Don’t worry, it won’t compress the boys.

Beyond improved body mechanics, the precision-fit fabric conforms directly to the body to lift and smooth in all the right places.  Not only does it make your rear look great – something that many women report as being a major turn-on – but it also enhances the look of what you have going on up front.  And too keep the boys in peak performance, the underwear use moisture-wicking fabric and have a ventilated “power pouch” to control moisture and temperature.

While I normally wear 2xist briefs – they also offer great support and lift in the rear at a fraction of the cost – I’ve quickly become a big fan of EQUMEN’s long trunks.  The trunks feel like a second skin, and the moisture-wicking fabric makes it feel like I have a light breeze blowing on me throughout the day.  While the $56 price tag for these underwear is a little steep, I would definitely buy them for a special occasion like a big date, wedding or my upcoming 10-year high school reunion.  They provide that extra bit of confidence, even if others can’t see what you have on underneath your pants.

As the wise and funny man Jerry Seinfeld once put it, “Men want the same thing from their underwear that they want from women: a little bit of support, and a little bit of freedom.”

What do you think? Would you pay $56 for the Precision Underwear?

It’s less than a week before Christmas, and yet you still haven’t finished your holiday shopping.  What are you waiting for?

Knowing that many guys, and women for that matter, wait until the very last minute to do their holiday shopping, 191 Unlimited has come up with a clever promo to help them finish up their shopping.  Now through midnight tomorrow, December 22nd, the men’s clothing brand is offering a 40% discount and free overnight shipping (guaranteed delivery before Christmas Eve) when you use the “holiday” promo code during checkout.  With this big discount, you may even find some shirts that you can use to create a new wardrobe for 2010.
